BLS services are provided by our team of highly skilled Emergency Medical Technicians, all of whom have completed the California State accredited EMT Training Program, and have successfully passed the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification examinations, and who possess EMT certifications that are valid throughout California. Furthermore, all of our EMT staff go through extensive pre-hire screening, including background and driving history, and post-hire field training.
Gentle Ride Ambulance Critical Care Transport (CCT) program is a dedicated resource specifically designed with the appropriate personnel, medications, and specialized equipment to provide the care and monitoring required for transporting critically ill patients.
Available 24-hours a day, 365-days of the year with a Critical Care Transport RN and two EMTs, Gentle Ride Ambulance utilizes a fully equipped Specialty Care Transport (SCT) Unit. Gentle Ride Ambulance is under contract with "Critical Transport Services, LLC" in providing the following professional Critical Care patient monitoring levels
Even the highest acuity level patients ( ICU/CCU/Cardiac Cath Unit/Transplant Unit/ Pre-Term Labor ) can be effectively transported without taxing the resources of the sending facility and without interruption in the patient’s level of care. Our SCT Unit is equipped with a Professional Transport Ventilator ; a Medtronic LifePak 12 Monitor/ Defibrillator/ AED with three-channel display for ECG, fully interpretive 12-lead ECG with external pacing, Pulse Oximetry,ETCO2 available, multiple 3 Channel Mini-med IV pumps, and interventional medications found in hospital ICU’s / CCU's. and Emergency Room Settings.
Equipped with a high capacity inverter to supply constant power to sensitive medical equipment when the vehicle is in transit, Gentle Ride Ambulance SCT Unit can accommodate the transport of almost any type of critical care patient requiring special equipment including Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump therapy and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
In order to meet the needs of so many different types of critical patients, including Pediatric Care. Much is taken into consideration in the staffing of the SCT Unit. There is a careful selection and hiring process, in which individuals with a varied critical care and/or emergency room nursing backgrounds are sought.
The Nurses and the EMTs they work with are selected based on experience, adaptability, and critical thinking ability as well as overall professional competence in caring for critical patients. All nursing staff members meet and/or exceed State and local EMS agency requirements.
Ongoing training is mandatory for all teams, ensuring confidence in the latest treatment modalities. The patient care on our SCT Unit is physician directed, and no different than the care provided in any hospital ICU / CCU.
